How to onboard?
A comprehensive guide to the Articler onboarding process that helps you set up your account, analyze your website, and create your first content strategy.
Welcome to Articler! Our onboarding process is designed to understand your unique needs and help you create high-quality, SEO-optimized content from day one. This guide will walk you through each step of the process and explain how it helps personalize your experience.
What is the Onboarding Process?
The onboarding process is an interactive setup wizard that collects information about your role, goals, website, brand, and target audience. This information is then used to generate personalized content strategies, writing styles, and SEO recommendations tailored specifically to your needs.
Why Complete the Onboarding?
While you can skip the onboarding and set everything up manually later, completing it provides several key benefits:
- Personalized AI Analysis: We analyze your website to understand your brand voice, target audience, and content opportunities
- Automated Setup: We create your first context (brand profile), preset (writing style), goal, audience, and keyword list automatically
- Time Savings: Instead of manually entering all this information, our AI does the heavy lifting based on your website analysis
- Better Results: Content generated with a complete profile performs better because it's tailored to your specific brand and audience
The Onboarding Steps
Step 1: Personalization Questions
What happens: You'll answer questions about your professional role, content objectives, and how you heard about Articler.
Information collected:
- Your professional role (Content Manager, SEO Specialist, Business Owner, etc.)
- Your content objectives (increase traffic, improve brand awareness, generate leads, etc.)
- How you discovered Articler
Why it matters: This helps us understand your experience level and tailor the interface and recommendations to your specific needs and goals.
Note for team members: If you're joining an existing team workspace, this step may be skipped as the team context has already been established.
Step 2: Website Analysis
What happens: You provide your website URL, and our AI analyzes your site to understand your brand, content, and opportunities.
Information collected:
- Your website URL
- Automated analysis of your site's content, tone, and structure
- Brand information extracted from your website
- Potential keyword opportunities
Why it matters: This is the foundation for all AI-generated content recommendations. The better we understand your current website and brand, the more accurate and relevant our suggestions will be.
What if my website can't be analyzed?: Don't worry! If we can't access your website or extract enough content, you'll have the option to continue manually or provide the information yourself in the following steps.
Step 3: Brand Context Review
What happens: We show you the brand information we extracted from your website and allow you to review and edit it.
Information collected:
- Brand name
- Company description
- Unique value proposition
- Brand voice and personality
- Industry and target market details
Why it matters: Your brand context ensures all generated content maintains consistency with your brand voice and messaging. You can create multiple contexts later.
Manual editing: You have full control to edit any AI-generated information to better reflect your brand. This is especially important if the website analysis missed key details or if you want to emphasize specific aspects of your business.
Step 4: Content Preset Review
What happens: We create a writing style preset based on your website's tone and allow you to customize it.
Information collected:
- Tone (formal, friendly, conversational, etc.)
- Personality (advisor, motivator, educator, etc.)
- Language preference
- Custom writing instructions
Why it matters: Presets ensure consistent voice across all your content. You can create different presets later for different types of content or audiences.
Step 5: Content Goal Review
What happens: We suggest a primary content goal based on your website and objectives, which you can review and modify.
Information collected:
- Goal type (awareness, engagement, educational, call-to-action)
- Goal description
- Target URL or landing page
- Custom instructions for achieving the goal
Why it matters: Goals guide the AI in creating content that serves a specific purpose and drives measurable results. You can create multiple goals later for different campaigns or content types.
Step 6: Target Audience Review
What happens: We analyze your website to identify your primary target audience and their characteristics.
Information collected:
- Audience title and description
- Demographics (if relevant)
- Geographic location (if applicable)
- Pain points and challenges
- Interests and preferences
Why it matters: Understanding your audience helps create content that resonates with the right people and addresses their specific needs and pain points.
Step 7: Keywords Review
What happens: We suggest relevant keywords based on your website analysis and industry.
Information collected:
- Primary target keywords
- Search volume estimates (when available)
- Keyword relevance to your business
- Content opportunities for each keyword
Why it matters: Proper keyword targeting improves your content's search engine visibility and helps you reach the right audience at the right time.
Step 8: Completion
What happens: Your account is fully set up and ready to use. You're redirected to your dashboard where you can start creating content.
What Happens After Onboarding?
Once onboarding is complete, you'll have:
- A complete brand context that guides all content creation
- A writing preset that maintains consistent voice and tone
- A primary goal that directs content strategy
- A target audience profile for better content targeting
- A starter keyword list for SEO optimization
You can immediately start:
- Creating SEO-optimized articles
- Generating content outlines
- Building topic clusters
- Managing your content calendar
Can I Change Things Later?
Absolutely! Everything created during onboarding can be edited, and you can create additional:
- Contexts for different brands or product lines
- Presets for different content types or audiences
- Goals for different campaigns or objectives
- Audiences for various market segments
- Keywords for expanded SEO targeting
Skipping Onboarding
You can skip the onboarding process at any time starting from step 4 (after website analysis). However, we strongly recommend completing it because:
- Manual setup takes significantly longer
- You miss out on AI-powered insights from your website
- Content quality may be lower without proper context
- You'll need to create all profiles manually in the dashboard
If you skip onboarding, you can always return to set up these profiles manually in your account settings.
Getting Help
If you encounter any issues during onboarding or have questions about any step, you can:
- Contact our support team through the chat widget
- Skip the current step and set things up manually later
- Restart the onboarding process from your account settings
The onboarding process typically takes 5-10 minutes to complete and sets the foundation for creating high-quality, effective content with Articler.
